Spider-Man: Brand New Day Nears ₹520 Crore in India as Third Weekend Competition Looms

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has continued its extraordinary run at the Indian box office, with the Marvel superhero film approaching the ₹520-crore gross mark after 13 days in cinemas.

The latest trade estimates suggest that the film added around ₹8.50 crore net on its second Tuesday, taking its India net total to approximately ₹431.55 crore. Its gross collection stood at about ₹515.95 crore, according to a Times of India report citing trade estimates.

The numbers come at an important point in the film’s theatrical run. After dominating the Indian box office for nearly two weeks, Brand New Day is heading into its third weekend with two major Hindi releases — Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 — entering the market during the Independence Day period.

A strong second Tuesday keeps the film ahead

The film’s performance has remained notable even after the steep weekday correction that followed its second weekend.

On its second Monday, Brand New Day collected an estimated ₹7.60 crore net, a 78.1% decline from its ₹34.70-crore second Sunday. The Monday figure represented the first time the film’s daily net collection fell below ₹10 crore.

The following day brought some recovery. The estimated ₹8.50-crore net Tuesday collection pushed the film’s overall India gross close to ₹516 crore.

That distinction between net and gross figures is important. Trade reports use both measures, and they should not be treated as interchangeable. The latest estimates put the film at roughly ₹431.55 crore net and ₹515.95 crore gross in India after Day 13.

Spider-Man has already rewritten the Hollywood box-office hierarchy in India

The bigger story is not the Tuesday figure itself but how quickly the film reached this level.

Brand New Day has already moved past previous Hollywood benchmarks in India, including James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water and Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, according to current trade reporting.

The film had accumulated an estimated ₹334.75 crore net during its first week. Its second week added another ₹88.30 crore through the figures reported before the Day 13 update, demonstrating that audience demand remained substantial beyond the initial release rush.

Its success is also spread across language versions. The English version remains the largest contributor, while the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions have added to the film’s India business.

That breadth matters in a market where Hollywood films have historically depended heavily on urban multiplex audiences. The ability of a superhero franchise to draw audiences across multiple language versions has helped expand its theatrical reach.

The next test comes with the Independence Day weekend

The film’s biggest challenge now is not whether it can cross ₹500 crore — it already has — but how much more it can earn before losing screens and shows to new releases.

According to current advance-booking figures reported by The Times of India, Awarapan 2 has established a sizeable early lead over Batwara 1947. On August 11, Awarapan 2 had reportedly sold about 20,300 tickets and generated around ₹86 lakh across more than 1,140 tracked shows. Batwara 1947, meanwhile, had generated roughly ₹20 lakh across a similar number of shows.

The comparison does not yet determine the eventual theatrical performance of either new release, but it indicates that Brand New Day will face a more competitive screen environment in its third week.

That makes the coming weekend particularly significant. A strong hold would show that the Spider-Man film can continue attracting audiences even after the initial blockbuster phase and in the presence of fresh domestic competition.

A different Spider-Man story for Tom Holland

The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, brings Tom Holland back as Peter Parker. Marvel’s official synopsis describes a Spider-Man who has become a full-time crime fighter in a New York City that no longer knows his identity. The story also introduces a physical transformation that threatens Peter’s existence.

The cast includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal, among others. Marvel lists the film’s international release date as July 31, 2026, while it opened in India on July 30.

The film’s Indian performance is particularly notable because it arrived after years in which the superhero genre faced questions about audience fatigue. Instead of simply relying on the wider Marvel universe, Brand New Day has been able to turn the Spider-Man character itself into a major theatrical draw.

Its record-breaking run therefore has significance beyond one film’s final collection. It demonstrates that a Hollywood franchise can still generate unusually strong theatrical demand in India when the character, release strategy and audience familiarity align.

What to watch next

The immediate benchmark is the film’s performance through the third weekend.

Brand New Day is approaching ₹520 crore gross in India, but its pace will depend partly on how many screens and shows remain available once Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 enter the market.

For now, the second-Tuesday numbers indicate that the film has not simply benefited from a huge opening. It has maintained enough audience interest to keep adding substantial revenue nearly two weeks into its theatrical run.

The question has shifted from whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day can become a major Hollywood success in India to where its final total will settle once the competition for screens intensifies.
